Background
Eastern Electronics, established in 1970, has committed to Taiwan’s high-reliability, high-complexity Engineering Manufacturing Services. Eastern provides SMT (Surface Mount Technology) processing, DIP hand-insertion processing, assembly, testing, and packaging – the whole spectrum of mature manufacturing services – using automated production equipment and strict quality control.
We can manage all phases of a project from prototype to trial production to mass production, meeting the diverse needs of both small customers and customers needing larger volume production.
Eastern Electronics has over 50 years of R&D and manufacturing experience in Taiwan and Shanghai, China and Thailand. Over the years, we have mastered manufacturing processes, serving worldwide well-known companies in industrial controls, automotive electronics, telecommunications, power & energy, instruments/medical, and other industries.
History
Established Eastern Electronics (Thailand) Co., LTD (EET) as a subsidiary in Thailand.
UEC installed an X-RAY component counter.
EEC installed an ERSA POWERFLOW Wave Soldering System.
EEC installed an FAI (First Article Inspection) System.
UEC updated the DAGE X-RAY Inspection System.
EEC installed 2 Panasonics NPM mounters.
UEC installed 2 Panasonics NPM mounters.
EEC obtained ISO 13485 quality certification for medical devices.
EEC installed an X-RAY component counter.
UEC installed Panasonic NPM & AM100 mounters.
EEC installed a Smart SMT Reel Rack.
UEC installed an FAI machine.
EEC installed a Class 10,000 Cleanroom and an SMT production line.
EEC and UEC each installed a new Panasonic mounter.
EEC sold an SMD production line to UEC.

Established an office in Japan.

Successfully entered the Japanese market with a project developing a digital music box.

Began supplying digital set-top boxes for cars to be sold in Taiwan. Successfully entered the European market.
Developed a series of DVB digital set-top boxes with SGS-THOMSON.
Established EMS business unit to engage in electronics manufacturing services.
Obtained ISO 9001 quality certification. Developed wireless, cable and satellite digital set-top boxes.
Capital increases by earnings and reserve; total working capital received USD 22.42 million.
Established Eastern Electronics USA in Silicon Valley. Delivered more than one million analog addressable / lock-code pay-TV systems. Total working capital reached USD 18.68 million.
Sold set-top boxes to more than 40 countries and analog addressable / lock-code pay-TV systems to more than 12 countries. Delivered more than 500,000 hotel room pay-TV set-top boxes. Prepared for IPO.
Established Universal Electronics Co. (UEC) as a subsidiary in China with an annual output of 750,000 cable-TV tuners and set top boxes. Won an order from Brazil for 500,000 addressable pay-TV decoder boxes.
Produced the one-millionth cable-TV set-top box and obtained ISO-9002 quality certification.
Increased working capital to USD 6.64 million.
Developed electronic TV tuners successfully.
A Taiwanese business group bought and reorganized EEC and increased capital to USD 1.6 million. Main business: cable TV tuner.
Sarkes Tarzian invested and founded Eastern Electronics Co. (EEC) with a capital of USD 167,000, primarily manufacturing mechanical TV tuners and becoming the world’s largest TV tuner supplier.
